Iba Ajie- The Ukpabi and Chinyere Asika Resource Centre is conceived primarily as a resource centre focused on it’s core deliverables and named in the honour of Ajie and Dibueze Asika. Set in the formal seat or palace of Ajie Asika, as prescribed for his membership of the Ndichie Ume (the High Council of Chiefs) of Onitsha. It is also by traditional prescription, his sacred burial site.

The centre seeks to honour their memory by celebrating the themes that epitomised their personal philosophies and life’s work. These being Heritage, Culture/Cultural Aesthetics, Intellectualism/Education, Governance, Technology and Art. All of these platforms were, in their view, deeply intertwined and the centre aims to promote these themes, both from aesthetic and functional standpoints.

The centre is operated under the corporate vehicle Iba Ajie (Company Limited By Guarantee), which is registered under Part B of the Companies and Allied Matters Act 1990, as a Social Enterprise. Its main object being the promotion of Indigenous Innovation, Technology, Culture, Media, Art, Literature, History, Language, within the Nigerian and larger African landscape. It is a non-political, non-profit entity, fully compliant with the Laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Nkiru Asika

Nkiru Asika is an Oxford University graduate whose professional experience spans audio-visual production, training, consulting, publishing, journalism, corporate communications and event management. Well-born and well-bred, she is a global player who has schooled, lived and worked in five countries across three continents. She also holds a B.A. and M.A. in History from Oxford University, a Post Graduate Diploma in Publishing from the University of the Arts, London and M.A. Journalism from the S.I.Newhouse School of Communications, Syracuse University, USA where she was awarded an academic scholarship for high achievement. She also studied etiquette and personal communication skills at two finishing schools – Institut Surval-Montfleuri in Switzerland and Lucie Clayton College, Knightsbridge, London.

Yetunde Asika

Born in The Hague, Holland, Yetunde Asika was born to the Late Ambassador Ayodele Yusuf Joseph Bakare and Mrs Olyfunmilayo Olayemi Olivia Bakare nee Odufunwa. She is a lawyer, with the dual qualification of Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria and a Barrister of the Supreme Court of England and Wales, She began her formal education at Vernon Holm Prep School, Lower Harlbledown, Canterbury in England and Canberra Church of England Girls Grammar School, Canberra, Australia. It was important to her parents that she maintained a strong connection with Nigeria and thus attended Command Secondary School Lagos for a few years before returning and back to public school in England (Kent College Canterbury and then King Edwards School Surrey). She concluded her LLB (Law Degree) and LLM (Masters in Law ABD) at Holborn College of Law London and received her professional qualifications at the Inns of Court School of Law, London.

Ed Emeka Keazor is an historian, lawyer, writer and documentary film-maker, who has for over 20 years been researching important outposts in the making of modern Nigeria. He is the author of the critically acclaimed works a '120 greatest Nigerians we never knew', 'The Lagos-Hamburg Line- A brief History of German Companies in Nigeria', 'The Federation Cup and Nigerian Football', amongst others. He was responsible for the historical documentaries, 'Onunaekwuluora: The Thurstan Shaw Story' and 'Lagos: The birth of a city of style 1861-1961'.
